Introduction

What is chemical engineering? Is it similar to chemistry? Most of students have had thought about this question. The main task of chemical engineers is different from chemists, who is focus on chemical synthesis research, is to translate processes developed in the chemical lab into practical applications for the commercial production of products, and then work to maintain and improve those processes. Chemical engineers also apply the principles of chemistry, biology, physics and math to solve industrial problems.

Recently, besides traditional petrochemical industry there are more and more semiconductor and electric, food and cosmetic, and biomedical industrial chain settled in our country. Chemical engineering in here has the chance to integrate with them. In our department, we have original chemical engineering undergraduate program courses such as “material and energy balance”, “chemical engineering thermodynamics”, “chemical reaction engineering”, “unit operation and transport phenomena”, “process design” and “chemical engineering lab.”, etc., and also build courses with diverse and featured industrial themes such as “fabrication technology of semiconductor device”, “digitalization and intelligentization of chemical process design”, “nanochemistry”, “biochemical engineering”, etc..

Through the program, we hope we could cultivate students reaching our educational goals and core abilities, becoming excellent engineers after school and benefiting society.
